Near Nogent-sur-Seine, it is possible to back in time in the XVIIIth century, when abbot Terray, minister of Louis XV, made raise his residence of campaign according to the influences of his time.Typical of the Enlightenment, the castle of la Motte Tilly is an elegant house of brick and sandstone, in a park of 60 hectares certified “remarkable garden”, with formal and English-style gardens and a water “mirror” that glorifies the domain. This castle keeps, in and out, the charms of the XVIIIth century. The gardens, several times modified since the construction of the country residence from 1754, as well as the interior decoration and furniture resume their original positions though search and restorations of the last owners of the domain: count Gerard de Rohan-Chabot and his daughter the Marquise de Maillé, archaeologist and president of the preservation of French Art. The park is ideal to have a walk or visit, from the main courtyard to the landscape garden, by way of the house of the master gardener. The castle dynamism reflects in its numerous cultural activities that take place during the summer. Groups are welcomed by appointment, all the days and all the year.
